Key Features

Record Condition

Groove Vision reads scratch depth in the groove with LiDAR on iPhone Pro and iPad Pro. Scratch Detection listens through the microphone while a side plays and maps every mark, track by track.

Condition Card and Receipt

A shareable image with every detected scratch drawn where it sits in the grooves. The Condition Receipt, a one-record document for a buyer or an insurer, is free for everyone.

Value at your grade

Any record with a media grade shows what that specific copy is plausibly worth, not just the market floor. Labelled estimates, not professional appraisals.

The Tap Card

Tap an NFC-tagged sleeve and the app returns the pressing, grades, value, play history and scratch map for that copy, instantly and entirely offline. Tags are passive stickers bought separately.

Ask Your Collection

Ask about your records in plain language and get an answer from your own shelves, with a receipt of what it checked. Works from Siri. Requires Apple Intelligence.

Nineteen on-device surfaces

Every AI feature runs on the device with Apple Intelligence. There is no server-side inference anywhere in the app, because there is no Spinstack server.

Discogs Sync

Full two-way sync with a Discogs collection, at the pressing level. A free Discogs account is required.

Spin Log

Every play recorded with its real listening time, building a listening history rather than an inventory. Wrist and Apple TV sessions count too.

Apple TV

Now Spinning fills the screen with the sleeve and a disc turning at a real 33 1/3 rpm. Game Night is a pass-the-remote quiz built from your own records, for two to eight players.

App Clip for record stores

A printed code on a shop counter opens a store-welcomed pocket Spinstack that identifies any pressing in the bins. No install, no account.

Barcode and Vinyl Vision

Scan a barcode, or let the camera read a sleeve that has none. Macro lens up close, catalogue numbers never spell-checked, and the printed digits read through shrink wrap.

Sonic Fingerprint

A Silent Session measures the record as it plays: tempo, key, loudness, structure and instruments, from the copy on your turntable rather than a database. Requires iOS 27.

Boilerplate

Copy you can paste

Short (40 words). Spinstack is a vinyl collection app for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV. It syncs a Discogs library two ways, logs every spin, tracks market value, and measures the physical condition of individual records on the device. One-time purchase, no subscription.

Long (120 words). With version 1.5, Spinstack becomes the first vinyl app to treat a record's physical condition as its central fact. Groove Vision uses the LiDAR sensor on iPhone Pro to read scratch depth across the playable surface. Scratch Detection listens through the microphone during playback and maps the marks track by track. The Condition Card draws them into the grooves of a shareable image, and the Condition Receipt is free for every collector. Apple Intelligence runs nineteen surfaces entirely on-device, including Ask Your Collection, which answers questions by reading the user's real records rather than guessing. An NFC sticker on the sleeve summons everything the app knows about that copy, offline. Spinstack is built by one developer and ships in sixteen languages with no subscription and no third-party SDKs.

Third-party quotes

What reviewers have said

From the Groovv roundup of Discogs apps, the most recent independent review. Cleared for use with attribution.

"Arguably the best value on this list."

Two-way Discogs sync that "no other app here offers."

NFC tags, "a genuine first."

"No subscription."

The developer

One person, two and a half years

Spinstack is designed and built by one person, Vaha, a working record collector in Kirkland, Washington, over more than two and a half years. There is no team, no funding and no outside code: the app contains zero third-party SDKs. The About screen credits read "Designed by Vaha. Powered by Discogs API. Built with SwiftUI. Platform: iOS, watchOS, and tvOS."

Privacy

What we can say, and it is all true

  • Every AI feature runs on the device with Apple Intelligence. There is no server-side inference and there is no Spinstack server.
  • Zero third-party SDKs, zero analytics, zero tracking. SKAdNetwork only, no IDFA, and no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
  • A collector's listening history and condition records live on their device and in their own iCloud.
  • Sharing in The B-Side is opt-in and off by default. Shared items expire after seven days and a user can wipe everything they have ever shared.
  • Version 1.5 asks for no permission that 1.4.6 did not.
Usage

A few things to get right

  • Please do not use third-party album artwork as the primary subject of a Spinstack image. Screenshots in the press kit use Screenshot Mode, which renders an invented collection with generated sleeve art for exactly this reason.
  • Groove Vision needs LiDAR, which means iPhone Pro or iPad Pro. Please do not write "on any iPhone."
  • Say sixteen languages, or fifteen besides English. Both are correct.
  • Condition-adjusted values are estimates and the app labels them as such on every surface. They are not professional appraisals, and the collector percentages behind them are a longstanding convention rather than a Spinstack invention.
  • Spinstack surfaces Discogs marketplace value but buying and selling happen on Discogs. It is a collection and listening tool, not a marketplace.
  • NFC tags are passive stickers bought separately. They are not smart tags and they are not included. Background reading needs iPhone XS or later.
  • Do not stretch, recolour or add effects to the logo mark.
